English Summary
Hello, I’m Dr. Christine Splietorp, Rechtsanwältin and Licenciada en Derecho trained in both Germany and Spain and based today in Baden-Baden, Germany. Welcome to my legal practice.
As a German lawyer with over 30 years of experience in international legal affairs, I am best placed to offer you legal advice and representation. This expertise is also available through my legal translation and interpreting services, as well as teaching and lecturing.
After studying law at the Albert Ludwig University in Freiburg and completing my legal clerkship in the Berlin District High Court (Kammergericht), I obtained a Master’s degree in European Community Law from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (Spain), where I studied from 1990 to 1992. Upon completion, I joined an internationally active notary office in Barcelona where I practised until the end of 2002 (notaries in the practice: Clavera – Perales – Barberá, now: Farrés – de Rocafiguera). Returning to Germany in 2003, I opened a legal translation bureau in Baden-Baden, which I expanded in 2009 by establishing my own legal practice. In 2015, parallel to my practice, I resumed my academic career by studying for a doctorate. The wide range and depth of experience I had gained during my years of legal practice in Spain and Germany informed my thesis on European Union private international and civil procedural law and in 2022, I was awarded a doctorate in law from the University of Regensburg (Germany).

lawyer
As a lawyer, I specialise in legal mandates for both German and international inheritance and family law, with a special focus on German-Spanish and German-Latin American contexts. When working I am able to tap into the knowledge, experience and contacts I have gained and apply them to topics including inheritance settlements in Germany and Spain, the preparation of international marriage contracts, and the execution of real estate transactions.
Please reach out to me with your requests so as I can see how best to assist you; I will respond promptly and with due legal discretion.
translation and interpreting
For translation and interpreting, I specialise in the translation of legal texts, which I offer in the following combinations:
Spanish -> German
German -> Spanish
English -> German
Catalan -> German
Through my appointment as a sworn translator and interpreter for Spanish, I am authorised to certify my translations in the combinations Spanish -> German and German -> Spanish and to act as an interpreter before the authorities and courts.
Please don’t hesitate to contact me.
teaching and lecturing
I currently teach and lecture on the topics of international private and civil procedural law, with particular focus on international family and inheritance law; I also train professional translators and interpreters in German legal terminology. Previous areas of teaching include foreign trade law, practical international economic relations, as well as comparative law and European Union law (the two latter topics as a lecturer at Mainz University, Faculty 06: Translation Studies, Linguistics and Cultural Studies).
Please do get in touch to discuss your lecturing requirements.
